Food Trucks. Provide casual and often surprisingly delicious meals, mostly lunch, but sometimes breakfast and dinner. They are strewn throughout the island.
One of our favorites is TACO LIBRE in Koloa with an ono (delicious) and creative selection of Mexican food. Taco Libre is on the west side of Hwy 520 (aka Tree Tunnel Rd or Mahulia Rd) just before it intersects with Koloa Rd in Koloa. 808-855-5583.

Huli Huli Chicken. Huli
huli (turn) chicken is a specially seasoned, often rotisserie style chicken, typically available as fundraisers, mostly at roadside stands along highways, and set up for only a day or two. If you come across one, stop immediately, buy one or two, and hunker down.
Kauai Chocolate Company. Nice milk and dark chocolate combined with tropical and traditional flavors. COVID HRS, Mon - Fri, noon - 5:00 PM. In Port Allen, in the middle of the Port Allen Marina Shopping Complex on the makai (oceanside) end of Waialo Rd (Hwy 541). Parking in rear. 335-0448.
Koloa Fish Market. Great local fresh fish, pupus (appetizer) platters, and plate lunches. Their seared ahi is ono (delicious). In Koloa, 3390 Poipu Rd, just south of the Koloa Texaco. Rd, across the street from the Koloa Post Office. 742-6199.
Koloa Fruit Stand. Kauai grown fruit and vegetable market. In Poipu near the southern terminus of the eastern Koloa bypass (Ala Kinoiki) on the west side of the road.
Loco Coco Shave Ice. Open Tue - Thu + Sat, 1 - 5 PM. An island favorite. Made with fresh fruit, local honey, and extra aloha. In Poipu in the Kukuiula Market parking lot (look for the yellow submarine). 651-5169.

CLOSED EXCEPT FOR KAPAA AND HANAPEPE, SEE SCHEDULE LINK BELOW. Open air farmers' markets at regular times and places. The Koloa Sunshine market is on Mondays at noon at Anne Knudsen Park next to the Koloa Ball Field. Sunshine markets are one for only an hour or two. Here is the schedule, or call 241-4946.
